I have realised that I select fashion trend moments depending on my own ‘Comfort Tick Box’ requirements, and oversized dad-style cardis will work for me this Winter:
Cover bottom ✅
Cosy ✅
Easy to layer ✅
Easy to find at all price points ✅
Four ticks plus they are perfect to wear over slim fitting layers and shorter skirt/opaque tights combo.
To prove the point, a recent email from Net-A-Porter, show the designer oversized brigade offering colour, texture and print options, a little bit Navajo, Starsky and Hutch and definitely big, chunky and cosy. I will be searching the high street, although I do remember my dad just might have something similar…..

High Street options are out there and I love this golden, egg yolk yellow from Anthopologie.
And the dreamy ombre option from Urban Outfitters.
Pretty Intarsia (inlaid design not just printed) florals from Anthropologie again.
Oversized chartreuse yellow from Cos (thats a green to most of us!)
And a great value option for wool and cashmere, buy a few sizes bigger from the mens department from on-line store, Woolovers, in this Deep Mustard, another shade you’ll be seeing a lot of this year.
So with days cooling, sad for some, and it’s time to unpack your woollens and see how big you wanna go!
