          The ‘useful’ summer trends

          Easy Outfit, keep it Tonal

          May 26, 2019

Sometimes I see a look on Pinterest and know that’s what I want to wear when it’s cool one minute, chilly the next.

Leather jacket, fluid skirt, fun sneakers and simple shirt, all in soft tones so not too jarring but enough interest in fabrics and textures.  As the weather is pretending to warm up, the leather jacket can easily be replaced by a dark blue denim jacket, like this Mango one HERE, just keep the shades of blue all slightly different.

Where to find this look on the high street?

Ted Baker’s timeless leather jacket… an investment item so think about the fit, not to loose for summer, but a little room for an autumn knit underneath too.

          To show a jacket style

Ted Baker navy leather jacket, £329

I personally live in shirts, and here’s a classic from Next in a lightweight chambray  (if you are interested … a chambray is a fabric with a white weft yarn and a coloured wrap yarn, like denim but a lot lighter)

          To show shirt option

          Next chambray shirt, £24

A skirt with pockets, like this full line version from John Lewis. Defines the waist but easy around the hips and pockets are now a must in fuller skirts.

          To show a skirt option

John Lewis & Partners linen full skirt, £59

Now to add the fun element, the shoes. A bit of print, zebra in this case.

          To show a trainer

Asos zebra trainers by Adidas, £90

The subtle styling details:  shirt cuffs undone, show the shirt collar over the leather to soften the neckline. Tuck in or tie the shirt front and no socks – no bow on laces, tuck in like the kids do!

A comfortable look with tons of variations.

          Enjoy, Kirstie x

Moving through my forties I've gained confidence to believe in 'style over trends' - quality wins (most of the time) and not to take it all too seriously. A great jacket is always my motto, and I like to play about with old and new and mix in some craft ideas too. I work with lovely clients who want a concise wardrobe or a unique outfit for a special occasion. I hope to inspire you.
